Alaska (August 17 - 27, 2000)
Late Thursday evening, my nuclear family (mom, dad, and brother Cameron)
met in Anchorage to begin our vacation. Here is a summary of the places
we visited and the things we did.

Anchorage Spent two days touring the city and exploring it on bicycles. |
|
|
Girdwood Just one hour Southeast of Anchorage, a beautiful log-cabin bed and breakfast served as our home for two days. |

Girdwood One excursion included white-water-rafting (very cold) and beautiful 26-glacier tour by boat out of Whittier.. |

Girdwood My brother, Cameron, even managed to shoot some of the glacier footage on film. |
|
|
Seward On our first day, we took another glacier tour; this one rewarded us with sightings of killer whales and a very large glacier, which was actively calving into the sea. On our second day, we went dog sledding and fishing in the bay. |

Seward This is a close-up of a glacier that we reached by land. We could actually get up and touch this one. Look at how blue the ice is. |

Talkeetna After a day's journey, we rose to go fishing for salmon in the river, followed by a private flight to Mount McKinnley, and capped off with an evening river tour searching for wild bears. Here my dad carries me across the river while trying to avoid stepping on the hundreds of salmon swimming up stream. |

Talkeetna The best part of Talkeetna (maybe the entire trip) was landing our small plane on a glacier at the foot of Mt. McKinley. |

Talkeetna Surrounded my the tallest peaks in North America, the view was astounding. |

Talkeetna And on the way back to our hotel, Cameron captured this great shot of the sun breaking through the clouds and spilling over Alaska's rivers and prairies. |
