Earl M. Brown, Jr. Biography

Earl Brown is the Peace Corps' country dictator for Guyana. He arrived to Guyana one month prior to me an my group of 22 other volunteers (GUY 10) and is expected to complete two years of service. He is responsible for the Peace Corps program in Guyana, its staff, its volunteers, and my early termination (COS - close of service).

Earl Brown has extensive experience with the Peace Corps as a Volunteer in Tanzania from 1964 - 1966, trainer in Tanzania, Country Director in Papua New Guinea (1992 - 1994), in addition to various positions held at headquarters in Washington, DC.

Earl was a management advisor for a USAID sponsored project in support of primary education reform. Prior to this, he spent four years as Lecturer/Director of International Programs in Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, NC. His experience also includes work as the Director of Field Operations and Overseas Programs for the African Development Foundation and as Chief of Party for the Tamale Land Use Project in Ghana.

Earl is from Greenville, North Carolina. He and his wife for 35 years have a daughter, son and three grandchildren.

Earl Brown, Jr., 64, has been appointed by the Peace Corps, as Country Director for Guyana. Brown was previously a management advisor for a USAID-sponsored project in Ghana that supported primary education reform.
