Lunch at Taste of China tells me "This is a good times to consider formally helping others." This fortune teller need to work on his or her tenses.
We discovered Joe's favorite new resturant today: Philadelphia Steak and Fries. Mine was a bit measy, but good.
Today was an interesting and good day for Third Goal, the new community blogging site I built for Peace Corps volunteers last week. I received two phone calls about the site: one from a reporter and another from a notable blogger.
The Reporter
Laura Vanderkam, a reporter for the DC Examiner, is doing a story on how volunteers are creating new literature about their experiences as they're happening. She discovered Third Goal as well as my personal site and wanted an interview. She has reported for USA Today, Reader's Digest, Washington Times, among others. If you want to read more about this topic, check out this posting at Third Goal.
The Blogger
Actually, I get contacted by a lot of bloggers. But this one, Ze Frank, is a very popular blogger. Ze has an upcoming speaking engagement for SXSW about "blogging across borders - the digital content divide." He thought I'd be a good person to speak with before attending the conference next week.
I enjoyed speaking with both Laura and Ze. I can only hope that such attention brings favorable light on Third Goal and the Peace Corps volunteers who share their stories. Thank you both for your interest.
My "No Repeat Lunch Week" continues. So far, I've eaten at 35 restaurants (and fast food joints) since Jan 17. Besides Joe, my co-workers are starting to get a little frustrated at the reduced dining options. Suck it up boys. Here's the log to date.

I recently discovered a new travel guide site called World66. They have a neat tool that automatically draws a map of places you've visited. Here are few examples:

Note the two Ikea wall lamps. They are new additions to my all-Ikea bedroom. If only I could find a Sweedish girl to go with.
Of course, right before taking a photo of my completed table and chairs (previous story), I dropped a two liter bottle of red wine. Sunday was spent steam cleaning wine out of my carpet and scrubbing my walls.
I spent much of the day Saturday putting together this Ikea table and four chairs. Four hours, 35 parts, 62 bolts and screws, two beers, and a few choice words later -- I have a kitchen table. I bought two more chairs, but to hell putting them together, at least not until I have a need to seat six.
Dan, John H., Joe and I headed south for some Squealers BBQ. It's actually west of the office, but you understand what I mean. Oh, they have sweet tea.
Got talked into attending Fight Night with the fellas after bowling. This fight ended with a knockout.
Regarding bowling, out of three games, I averaged a 126.
